Installing Mylyn onto ColdFusion Builder

I'll fix up this post but this is a quick run through to install Mylyn onto ColdFusion Builder standalone. Here is a link to the 5 min screencast of the process.

Add the update site (help —> install new software)
Add http://download.eclipse.org/releases/ganymede/ as ganymede
filter mylyn and then select
Mylyn Bridge: Eclipse IDE
Mylyn Focused UI
Mylyn Task List
Accept Legal stuff
Apply changes, shutdown
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe ColdFusion Builder\CFBuilder.exe" -clean
Window – Show Views – Other
Mylyn – Task List and Task Repositories

screencast

I recorded the installation process, but ran out of time with the final toggling on Mylyn filter of the navigator. It isn't critical, it was to show Mylyn's Navigator filter was working, which it is since you saw me toggled the filter off in the Navigator view.

If you need to install JIRA Connector dont install "Mylyn Focused UI". I installed version 3.0 from the Ganymede link and needed to upgrade to 3.3 in order for the Connector to install correctly. Appears to be a dependency issue and prevents the Connector from installing correctly.

    Thanks for the info.

I'm using a version ColdFusion Builder which appears to be based on Galileo rather than Ganymede. I used the http://download.eclipse.org/releases/galileo update site to install Mylyn, but I can't get the view to show up. Is installing Mylyn from Ganymede required for it to work, or might there be some other issue? Is your version of CFBuilder also based on Galileo?

  • Mike Henke

After using the galileo update site, did you run the clean command which is recommended after installing any plugins?

There might be some other issue, i don't think it is releated the ganymede vs galileo.

For this demo, I was using the stand alone CFBuilder so I think it is ganymede. Another route would be download eclipse (one with mylyn) and the install CFBuilder as a plugin.

My CFBuilder is the standalone version. Just got it a couple months ago, so it must be shipping with Galileo now. I did run the clean, but to no avail.

I ultimately went into Help --> Product Details --> Installation Details and selected all the Mylyn modules and hit Update. This moved them up from 3.2.3 to 3.4.0. It appears to work now, though there's still no "Mylyn" view, but the Task List and Task Repository views are now available.

There will be not a "Mylyn" view. Mylyn works behind the scenes. All you'll be doing different is activating and deactivating tasks in the tasks list along with creating/updating tasks within CFBuilder.

Mike, thanks for this. It was very helpful. I was able to get Mylyn installed on CFBuilder standalone.

Glad to be able to help George!

Mike, I am starting up with Mylyn again. I want to be able to integrate it with Gmail. When I right mouse click on a category and select new query. The option to add task repository is grayed out. I suspect that I just have the Mylyn basic install and not tasktop. Are you query other objects? How can I add this feature?

  • Mike Henke

    Hi George,

Here is a feature matrix of Mylyn, Tasktop Pro, and Tasktop Enterprise. http://tasktop.com/support/download/feature_matrix.php

You can add Tasktop as a plugin following the appropriate link on this page for your Eclipse version http://tasktop.com/support/download/
